Hong Kong Family trip

We had a great holiday in Hong Kong recently with Ah Ku's family and Ah Mah.

The weather was not as cold as expected. Most of the time, I would only wear one layer of long sleeve shirt. I enjoyed the weather there.

We walked a lot in Hong Kong. We went to many shops. Mami and Ah Mah bought a few items. I would say that we did not buy many things, though we went shopping everyday (on average, we were shopping about 8-9 hours a day). We spent a day in Ocean Park and that was the best part of the holiday for me. I loved the rides. I loved the shows. I loved the animals.

Dadi and Mami were proud of Kor Kor and I. We were able to walk at the same speed as the adults. I whined a little sometimes because I disliked shopping......with the exception of shopping for toys. I managed to convince Dadi to buy for me a small box of Batman lego and a set of Spiderman pyjamas.

I had a great time in Hong Kong, with great company. I loved playing with my Kor Kor and cousins. I wish there would be more trips together soon.

Preschool Graduation

I have finally graduated. I have graduated from preschool education at 5 years old.

Today was my Preschool Graduation. I performed well. Dadi, Mami and Benjamin Kor Kor were very happy and proud of me. Mami said that she cannot believe that her little baby has graduated. Kor Kor was so happy for me till he had watery eyes when I recited my graduation poem.

I will be joining Benjamin Kor Kor next year in the big boy school.

My best friends

Here is a video of my graduation poem recited in during my graduation ceremony. Mami had failed to catch me on video in school. So, I recited it at home.

Cajon Lesson

I attended a cajon lesson last Sunday in church. There were many Kor Kors and Cheh Chehs there. They all sat on large looking cajons, while I had with me a small cajon. Dadi and Mami bought me this small cajon, suitable for my height. It was custom-made by Derek Kor Kor, owner of Timoz Percussion.

I have been using the cajon very often at home. It is a great and cool toy to me. I can sit on the cajon and drum all day. I can sit on the sofa and place my bowl of rice on the cajon while eating in front of the TV. I can also use it as a stool, resting my legs on the cajon. I sometimes use it as my imaginary Headquarters of my Superhero Squad while playing with Kor Kor. I have been far more creative than my Kor Kor when it comes to utilizing my cajon.

Here are some photos to share with you. Don't let the photos mislead you. I was paying attention most of the time. If any of you are interested to buy, you can buy it from Timoz Percussion with a reasonable price.

Though I looked bored, but it wasn't the case.
This picture is deceiving.

OK....I know I was distracted

I was distracted by this Cheh Cheh who kept taking photos.

Ah Mah and I in Chinese costume

I had to dress up in traditional costume in conjunction with Hari Merdeka. This was bought for my Chinese New Year school party early this year. This is a picture of Ah Mah and I.

SuperHeroes......here I come!

I not only like to look like a superhero, I like to draw them too. Here is a drawing of my favourite superheroes. There are some villians in the picture too. Do you know who there are?

My Superhero Style

I love Superheroes and I would love to dress up like a superhero. I do not have any superhero costumes, so, I try to style my hair like a superhero.

This is my superhero hairstyle. Do you like it?

A New Baby In The House

Hooray.... We have a new baby in the house. We have not taken a photo of the baby yet. The little one is just too shy and afraid at the camera.

Kor Kor and I named her Honey. She is the baby sister to our Milo and Sugar. We hope that Milo and Sugar will not bully her and with play well with her. Kor Kor and I love our three guinea pigs. Love them sooooo much.

"Kor Kor, You Must Play With Me"

I love to play with my Kor Kor. I am certainly the more aggressive and demanding one during playtime and this turns Kor Kor off sometimes.

Yesterday, Kor Kor was with Mami using with ipad to look for some information for school homework. I was feeling bored and asked Kor Kor to play with me. I told him that it is a MUST to play with me. Kor Kor felt a little irritated. He then said "Shaun, play by yourself. Last time before you were born, Kor Kor played by myself too. If I can play by myself, why can't you do the same"?

As usual, I ignored what Kor Kor said and continued to bug him. Eventually he gave in.

I Miss You note

I made this "I Miss You" note for Mami recently. I stuck this next to our entrance door for Mami to read everytime she goes out from the house.

The note says:

dear mummy
I miss you so much when you are away.
I love you when you are my mummy.
From Shaun

Progress Report for Mid Term 2013

Mami went to my preschool to collect my progress report a week ago. She was pleased to hear that I was doing well in my preschool. Below is the report written by my class teacher.

Thank God for helping me in my preschool. It is certainly not easy to fit into a class with students a year older than me. Typically I am "kiasu" and it is difficult to compete in such an environment.

I am entering Primary One next year. Mami will start me on serious revision at home by the next school holiday to prepare me. I certainly do not look forward to the coming August school holidays.

Move it...move it....

Let's move our matress to Mami's room.

With the bad haze, we have been closing all windows and doors, leaving the house rather stuffy and hot.  In return, we have switched on the air conditionar in the hall almost throughout the day.

Dadi has just left for Brunei this morning. Mami announced the good news..... "Boys, to save electricity, we must all sleep in one room. Mami's room"!

I shouted for joy. Finally Mami's is generous enough to share her room with us.

Sweetie Pie

When I am in a good mood, I can say the sweetest thing. Once when I went out with Dadi, Mami and kor kor, I told Ah Mah that I will miss her.

Just last week, I was in a good mood after my entrance assessment for Primary One. Kor Kor  accompanied me to the school. When I reached home, I told Kor Kor that he was the best Kor Kor in the world. Kor Kor was so happy. He said that it was the best thing I said to him ever.

Without a doubt, I am also sweet to Mami. I constantly tell her that I miss her very much wherever I go.

I love my Dadi too. I just find it difficult to express it. Dadi knows deep inside his heart that I love him. I think it is easier to say sweet words to a woman than to a man, isn't it true?

Entrance Exam

I had to go to Kor Kor's school on Friday to sit for an entrance exam. I was certainly not looking forward to the exam as I did not know what to expect from it. I have never sat for an examination before. My preschool does not give examination.

The exam duration was an hour. Nevertheless, I completed it in less than 30 minutes. I was the first to complete the examination and left the classroom. Mami was shocked to see me. Her first question was to find out if the paper was easy. I told her that the paper was easy and it consisted of questions for English, Maths and Bahasa Melayu. Mami was a little relief. However, she began to worry when all other students were still in the classroom despite hanging around to school for another 15 minutes. She then asked me if I was sure I completed my paper. I told her I was sure. She repeatedly confirmed with me if I was certain of my answers.

I guess Mami was overly worried over the matter. She needs to trust me more. I am sure I did well in the exam. Time will tell.

I love my pet guinea. I would go and check on my guinea more often than my Kor Kor. Although I am still afraid of carrying my guinea, but I still love petting my guinea.

Here comes my pet guinea........ Mine is called Sugar and Kor Kor's is called Milo.

Cousin's baptism and my Rock Collection

My cousins, Nicolas and Ashley were baptism yesterday. The baptism was held at Taman Rimba, Ampang.

We went to witness the baptism and I was so excited when I saw the place. Firstly, there was water. I love playing with water. Secondly, there were many rocks to be found. I love collecting rocks.

We had a great time there, playing with water and collecting rocks. I was happy that I bought a bucket to collect my rocks.

Kumon works for me

Kor Kor and I started attending Kumon in March this year. It is barely 2 months and I already feel that my speed in calculating is faster.

Going to Kumon is quite effortless to us. We have to go for Kumon lessons twice a week. Every Kumon Centre has different opening days. Normally two days during the weekdays and Saturdays. We have to choose only two days in a week.

When we attend our lesson, we are given a booklet to complete. A booklet can contain 5 to 10 pages. The pages are half the size of an A4. We would normally complete a booklet between 5 to 10 minutes. I was praised when I completed a booklet within 3 minutes.

After completing the booklet, there is a number board which we need to rearrange the numbers from 1 to 100 as quickly as we can. It is easy to do, but not easy when it comes to completing it with speed. Once we have completed this, we would have to go back to the teacher to confirm if there are any corrections. Otherwise, we can check out and go home.

Upon checking out, we will be given our homework. One booklet a day until our next lesson. The booklet is similar to the one we do in the Kumon Centre. We would have to hand in our homework everytime we come to the Kumon Centre. All our homework must be timed. Kumon emphasizes in speed and accuracy.

We do our Kumon homework everyday. It normally takes us 10 minutes to complete it. I guess practise makes perfect. I find that my focus, speed and accuracy in maths have improved. I no longer use my fingers to count.

Mami, I am your son

I made Mami angry today. Mami was busy texting a long message to Dadi. Dadi is away in overseas. I wanted Mami's attention, so I kicked the bottom of the sofa, where she was seated.

Mami immediately stopped texting and told me that I was rude. It was rude of me to kick the bottom of the sofa just to draw her attention. I immediately hugged her and said that I loved her.

A few hours later, I told Mami that she should not be angry with me. Mami asked why. I replied "because I am your son". I immediately went to show her a photofame of my baby picture. The picture frame came with the engraving of my name, date of birth and time of birth. I told her that this picture was me, your son, remember?

Memory Verse

I have finally succeeded in reciting memory verses in Sunday School. Previously, I would always read the memory verse from a book. However, I started putting effort in memorizing the verses since early this year and, yes! I made it! Dadi and Mami are really proud of me.

I cry because I do not know....

My brother and I have one thing in common. We cry when we cannot play a particular song on the electone or piano after a few attempts of learning a new song. We get all stressed up.

Mami cannot comprehend how we think. Mami has always said that it should take a few days to play a song which is new to us.

I guess we just want to please our music teachers. For me, I like to hear praises from my music teacher. So, I get all stressed up if I think a particular song is too difficult for me.

Mami is stressed trying to teach us how to play. Kor Kor and I are fortunate that Mami knows how to teach us.

Can I Stay As A Baby

I am very much a Mami's boy. I am still very attached to Mami and I craved for Mami to hug, cuddle, kiss and smell my hair. I would asked to be hugged every morning once I am awake and before I sleep. I would also run to Mami for a hug after school.

Just the other day, I asked Mami if I would still be a baby. I missed being carried by Mami. I am currently too heavy to be carried but sometimes, Mami would try to carry a little. Mami knows that I love to be carried like a koala.

I have been sleeping on my own with Kor Kor in our own bedroom. I have occasionally requested to sleep with Mami, but Mami would refuse me all the time. She would only allow me to do so if I had a fever. I have tried all kinds of tricks but it has not worked. I even asked Mami to cut off Dadi's wedding photo hanging on her room and replace it with mine. I would have thought that if the picture hanging on the bedroom wall has my picture with Mami's, then perhaps that will be my room.

Wish I could be a baby again. That is the only way to be able to sleep with Mami.

My favourite play toys

What was your favourite toy when you were five?

I am a typical boy. I love playing with small mini figurines of superhero squad, star wars, legos and toy soldiers. I like transformers too, but only the ones which are small in size.

I love books related to star wars and superhero squad. However, I am not a person who likes to hang around with books. I only do so before bedtime.....just as an excuse to delay my bedtime.

Cheeky me...

I love to play. Like any other young kids, I love to play toys. I love it even more if my Kor Kor would play the same toys as mine.

Kor Kor loves to build Legos. I love to play anything which has lots of action e.g. Superhero squad, Power Rangers, Star wars or Cars2. Due to my influence, Kor Kor is beginning to like what I play. Do you want to know my trick of influence?

I would normally take out a particular batch of toys and ask Kor Kor to play with me. If he doesn't, I would then ask him if he was sure he did not like to play these toys. If he ignores me, I would reactively say "Never mindlah. If you do not like to play these, we throw everything away lah".

Kor kor would be "heart-sick" and would immediately play with me. I on the other hand will be jumping with glee.

My Kor Kor and I

I do not say it out loud, but I do love my Kor Kor. He likes to teach me....but sometimes I dislike being taught. It makes me feel that I am not as smart as him. Mami would always remind me that I am three years younger than Kor Kor. So, it is normal that Kor Kor knows more than I do.

Here are some pictures to share.

I am 5 now

I have just turned 5 on Monday and Mami has noticed a significant change in me.

I had always been paranoid over being late to my preschool everyday. Everyday, I would whine and cry once my Mami comes back from dropping Kor kor off from school. Mami would have to spend time convincing me that I am not late for school.

On the day after my birthday, I decided to make Mami proud of me. I did not cry or rushed Mami to fetch me to school. Instead, I remained cheerful and went to school happily. I have been consistently cheerful for the entire week. Mami prays that I would continue to mature and be as cheerful as I can be.

Me from January 2013

It has been so long since this blog was updated. The family has been busy since the year started.

How have I been? I have been going to the same kindergarden as last year. Nevertheless, I cried almost everyday for two weeks. It was just small little tears leaving home.

I started two new lessons in the month of January.

Benjamin Kor Kor and I started learning swimming. It is an individual class, 30 minutes for each person. I have been slow in my progress because I refused to put my head into the water. Swimming is no fun for me.

I also started my individual electone lesson with Kor Kor's electone teacher. I find him very nice and I am enjoying his lessons. He comes to the house to teach me once a week.

Although I am turning five next month, I am attending the 6 years old class in my kindergarden. Mami has decided to start me early for Primary One next year. I have been registered to the same school as Kor Kor. Mami is stressed up preparing me for the entrance exam this June. I need to pass my entrance exam to be accepted for Primary One in year 2014.

This year looks like a busy year for me. I am still as happy-go-lucky as ever. This is what makes me so lovable.
